there's a new poll to the left. it's something that's bothered me for a long time, really. i just don't know what's proper. if you chose "other", let me know in the comments, what you do? i don't think this is something miss manners teaches, it's more of a trial-by-fire kinda learning.

AHA! I just saw in one of the myriad of catalogs here at home, a new product for just this situation. You put 3-4 drops of this "liquid" in the bowl before proceeding and ALL smells will be gone. Could be your Christmas present!
