i told ya so

we came into work on the 27th, 9AM as usual, we had a meeting. meeting said, install balance weights by noon, turning gear until 4pm, fire unit at 5pm, run until 9pm, overspeed test at 10pm. total 13 hours work. but this is an INDIAN schedule, so i informed them that our safety regulations don't allow us to work more than 16 hours. no matter what we are doing, at 1AM (16 hour from 9AM), we are walking offsite for safety reasons. they said there was NO WAY it would be a 16 hour day (how cute, ignorance is bliss). so at 2pm, they tell us to go home until 8pm. so we did.

i shopped a bit, got some sandals, euro-looking shoes, some new socks, and went to the grocery store. dicked around for a bit then went back to the hotel. customer called "we have delays, come in at 10:30pm". then i get a call, more delays, come in at midnight. we ended up coming in at midnight, started the unit at 1:13AM (16hrs, 13 minutes). they didn't like it when i brought that point up. we didn't even fire this time, gas leak. we have a valve that is passing gas, sucks. late. going home for the night. the turbine gremlins on this site are getting out of control. see ya in the mornin'.
