a package, well... part of a package

yesterday i was chilling in emma's room, watching a movie, when reception called. i had a package. they probably would have had to call her even if i was in my room because i don't answer the room phone. usually it is some guy asking if i want a massage or some such other inane thing. so emma opened the door to see a package hanging on my doorknob. she brought it in, and i opened it excitedly. see care packages, or any package at all here is like getting a perfumed note from your wife while on the front line. it just lifts the spirits. this was even better as it was completely unexpected.

i looked at the green customs ticket to see it was from my good friend and college roommate, J-Rod. the package had about an 8" gash in the side and was held together with twine and a wax stamp a la the victorian ages. NOPE, no one opened this package, it was secured... with twine and wax nonetheless.

the package was actually from J-Rod, TheJWife, and TheJBaby, and inside the package was a thank you letter for what i sent them for the new baby. also, they sent me iron horse's "fade to bluegrass: the bluegrass tribute to metallica" with a note saying "you're either going to love this or hate it...". strangely enough, i thought it was quite good. some of the music sounded a bit "weird al"-like, but it was actually pretty decent. i quite liked it. but on the customs slip, there was mentioned "t-shirt". well, that wasn't in the package and i'm guessing it "slipped" out of the tear in the package onto some indian delivery boy's back. that sucks, but it didn't take away from the morale boost.

J-Rod, et al... thanks. i needed it.

There's also Hayseed Dixie that does a bluegrass AC/DC tribute. Nothing quite like hearing Highway to Hell with a twang.
